BOKS Starts on Tuesday May 2nd!!!

BOKS starts this Tuesday! We have a few spots left and would love to have your child participate. Please contact us ASAP via email to enroll.

BOKS (Build Our Kids’ Success) is a volunteer-run, fun, before-school physical activity program for kids. Each session lasts 6 weeks and meets 2 days per week for 45 minutes. Some of the activities include running, jumping, hopping, hula hooping, learning new skills and so much more!

BOKS will run every Tuesday and Thursday morning OUTSIDE on the back playground from 8:00 – 8:45 a.m. The 6 week fall session starts on Tuesday, May 2nd and ends on Thursday, June 8th. Complete one Registration Form for each child and submit with a check for $25 (per child) made out to Haynes Organization of Parents (HOP) by Friday, April 28th.  Scholarships are available. Forms can be returned directly to the BOKS mailbox at the front desk. Approximately 40 children may participate in the session, and the participants will be chosen via lottery (if necessary). Parents will be responsible for transporting their children to school. Children who attend SED are eligible to enroll and participate. Please note, that sessions may be cancelled or moved inside due to inclement weather. We will try our best to give as much notice of cancellation as possible. This will be done via email.

We hope that you will share our enthusiasm for this program and you will, in turn, see a positive impact on your children. Please contact us with any questions, or you can check out the BOKS website. We are asking each family to volunteer to help out with the program one morning per session – either on a Tuesday or Thursday. A Sign Up Genius will be sent out to all families enrolled. Teacher Appreciation Week – The Perfect Time For ACE Awards!!

Looking for ways to recognize your outstanding educator during Teacher Appreciation week May 1-5. Honor them with an ACE Award (Appreciation of Champions in Education). When you make a donation to SERF (Sudbury Education Resource Fund) in honor of a teacher, specialist, tutor or administrator, the honored educator receives an ACE Award Certificate indicating that a donation has been made to SERF in their name as a “Champion in Education.” The school principal also receives notice of the award, so that the honoree can be recognized among the school‘s faculty and staff. Your donation improves the classroom experience by enabling SERF to fund grant requests made by Sudbury educators (K-12) for innovative projects, technology and materials.

Order your tax-deductible ACE Awards online on the SERF website.  The deadline for Teacher Appreciation ACE Award requests is Friday, April 28. Buy Back-to-School Supplies Now!

HOP is happy to announce that we are participating in the SchoolKidz program again this year. This is a voluntary program to purchase your child’s/children’s school supplies in advance for the 2017-2018 school year. The personalized kit includes everything on your child’s school supply list and will be delivered to your child’s classroom for the first day of school. This program is designed to save you time and make “back-to-school time” less hectic. Order a kit and you can cross “Shopping for School Supplies” off your summer to-do list now!

Online ordering will begin 4/12/17 and the portal will remain open until 5/5/17! Orders may only be placed online at the SchoolKidz website, Here’s how to order:

Enter the Haynes Account Number, 86093, in the green box and click the search button to call up the list of kits for Haynes.Please be sure to purchase the kit for the grade your child will be entering in the fall. For example, if you currently have a 2nd-grader, please order the 3rd Grade Kit.If you wish to buy additional items such as backpacks, lunch bags, and water bottles, click on the small “Back to Step 2” link below the green “Add to Cart” button.
When you’re done adding items to your cart, click the yellow “View Cart” link in the upper right-hand corner.
Check to make sure you are ordering the kit for the grade your child will be in *next fall* and complete the checkout process with a credit card. If you have a child entering kindergarten in the fall, you can simply choose the Kindergarten Kit online at the same time you are ordering for your older child. If you know of a family who will be entering Haynes in the fall, please feel free to forward this email to them!

Once you purchase the kits, you are done! No more waiting in long lines, battling the crowds, or driving to multiple stores to find every requested item on your child’s supply list. Sit back and relax!

Again, the SchoolKidz program is completely voluntary. Proceeds will benefit HOP. If you decide not to participate in the program supply lists for each grade that contain this information will be provided with teacher assignments mailer over the summer.

The deadline for ordering SchoolKidz kits is 5/5/17. No orders will be accepted after this date.
