Pennies for HOPE!

 The annual HOPEsudbury Penny Drive is underway! Bring your spare change to school from October 10-27 and drop it in the HOPEsudbury jar in the school lobby. Pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters, and bill are all welcome! Your contributions combined with those of your classmates and the entire Sudbury Public School community will add up to make a BIG difference in the lives of people in need right here in Sudbury. Haynes Open House Night 2017

Open House Night is Thursday, September 14, 2017.  Open House Night is a wonderful opportunity to meet your child’s teacher(s), hear about what your child will be learning this year, meet other parents and learn more about the Haynes School Community.

Open House Night is from 6:30 – 8:30 pm. The full schedule is below:

6:30 – 7:00  Social Period and Visit Specialists

  •  Stop by to learn more about Haynes Community organizations, tour the school, order school directories, notepads, yearbooks, and magnets.

7:00 – 7:30  Classroom Visitation (Part 1)

  • Formal classroom presentations –  Kindergarten, Grades 1 and 2
  • Informal classroom visits – Grade 3, 4 & 5

7:35 – 8:05  Formal All-School Presentation (Auditorium)

8:10 – 8:40    Classroom Visitation (Part 2)

Support the Haynes Library Through the “Gift of Reading”

Looking for a way to treat your child on his or her birthday?  Want to recognize a teacher, grandparent, or someone else special in your family’s life?  Interested in giving a gift and giving back to Haynes at the same time?  Help the Haynes Library by donating a book in celebration of a special person or occasion!  Donations to the library through the Gift of Reading program are done electronically to make things easy and convenient for everyone.  Click here to see the library wishlist .  Gift of Reading selections can be made now or at any time of year.   Please make sure to select the “Haynes LIB” shipping address and note in the Gift Message window the name of the child or family who is donating the book and the occasion or person being celebrated.  Thanks for supporting our library!


Fall BOKS – Register by Friday September 15th! Starts on Tuesday September 19th!!!

BOKS (Build Our Kids’ Success) is a volunteer-run, fun, before-school physical activity program for kids. Each session lasts 6 weeks and meets 2 days per week for 45 minutes. Some of the activities include running, jumping, hopping, hula hooping, learning new skills and so much more!

BOKS will run every Tuesday and Thursday morning OUTSIDE on the back playground from 8:00 – 8:45 a.m. The 6 week fall session starts on Tuesday, September 19th and ends on Thursday, October 26th. Complete one Registration Form for each child and submit with a check for $25 (per child) made out to Haynes Organization of Parents (HOP) by Friday, September 15th.  Scholarships are available. Forms can be returned directly to the BOKS mailbox at the front desk. Approximately 40 children may participate in the session, and the participants will be chosen via lottery (if necessary). Parents will be responsible for transporting their children to school. Children who attend SED are eligible to enroll and participate. Please note, that sessions may be cancelled or moved inside due to inclement weather. We will try our best to give as much notice of cancellation as possible. This will be done via email.

We hope that you will share our enthusiasm for this program and you will, in turn, see a positive impact on your children. Please contact us with any questions, or you can check out the BOKS website ( We are asking each family to volunteer to help out with the program one morning per session – either on a Tuesday or Thursday. A Sign Up Genius will be sent out to all families enrolled. Please contact us if this is a hardship for your family.   Many hands make light work!

HOP Volunteer Meeting – September 14th

Everyone is invited to our HOP committee chairs meeting to kick off the school year on Thursday, September 14th at 9:30am in the Haynes cafeteria! Come meet other volunteers, bring any questions you may have, get updates on each committee, and hand off materials to new volunteers. This meeting is for all HOP volunteers – new and veteran! Please come even if you are not on a committee but would like to learn more about getting involved.
