Grade One Art, Ceramic Fish Tiles!

E-mail Print PDF

GR1fishceramicThe ceramic kiln has been firing away throughout the winter. Students in grades one through five have been following their clay work as it goes through two transformations in the kiln with the use of heat. (Around 1,891 degrees Fahrenheit!)

Students in grade one made two projects in clay this year. The first was a three dimensional pot made by turning and pinching with hands and fingers. The second project involved drawing fish and transferring the drawings onto clay slabs, then cutting tiles. We'd like to share some of the fish with you here before they swim home! Enjoy! Join the New Science Club at Haynes!

E-mail Print PDF

96px-Einstein_tongueI am excited to announce the beginning of a new club at Haynes Elementary! This spring, our science club will explore scientific ideas and have a blast experimenting in biology, chemistry, environmental science, physics and other scientific areas!

This exciting new club will meet on 8 Thursdays after school beginning on April 1 (no joke!). We will focus on “doing” part of science and try to complete one project or experiment per session.

Since this is the first year, the Haynes Science Club will be limited to interested 4th and 5th graders. If there are many young scientists who want to join, Tuesday afternoons are also available for a second group. All the details will be sent home on a flyer/form in the near future.

Schedule of SPS & LS Budget Forums

E-mail Print PDF

Town meeting is about one month away and the schools' and town's budget will again be an important discussion in the proceedings.  In advance of Town Meeting, we will be conducting a series of budget information forums to allow a closer look at the budgets to be presented and deliberated upon at town meeting (a non-override budget and a budget requiring an override.) This year these forums will focus on the budgets of SPS and LS.  The forums are open to all residents of Sudbury. As always, information on the SPS budget is available for review on our web site by clicking here.  John Brackett will be at the HOP General Meeting on March 16th at 7:30pm to discuss budgets.  Please join us!  The complete schedule of SPS and LS Budget Forums is available here.
