Dear Fourth Grade Parents – We have the privilege of running the food pantry for the school. It’s such a fun and rewarding opportunity for parents and kids.
We could use a few volunteers for each Food Pantry date to help with collecting, sorting, boxing up, and delivering the food to the Food Pantry. Some basic information you’ll need to know about this volunteer position includes:
– Volunteer parents should arrive at Haynes around 11:20 on the day of the Food Pantry to help with setup.
– Students will begin counting and collecting items around the same time. Parent volunteers help the students with counting and then loading the items onto carts. Parents and students sort the food into appropriate boxes and package everything up. It’s fast and fun.
– Once everything is sorted and packed, the boxes are loaded into a few cars. We will need 1 or 2 parents to volunteer use of their car.
– Some volunteers can leave at this point (around 12:30/1:00). Those whose cars are packed will be given a drop off time within the hour to get to Our Lady of Fatima, the location of the Food Pantry.
